review

With 86 floats and walking groups making up this year's Manchester Pride parade, it was one of the largest in the 18 year history of the event.

The sun was shining and the streets of Manchester were filled with spectators... as well as a few protesters - presumably eager to cure anyone who would listen. Sometimes it's easy to forget why there is a parade at all - but groups like this remind us exactly why we're taking to the streets. Yes, it's a celebration, but equally it's still a demonstration. Thanks to the extremists for reminding us that we're still fighting bigotry, hatred and misunderstanding all over the world - there's no room for complacency.

The party found its way to Canal Street and was greeted with huge cheers and much whistle-blowing - just about audible over the music and mayhem of the parade itself. Fabulous!

There are plenty more photos to come - but these should suitably whet your appetites!

REALManchester's coverage of the parade is kindly supported by the fabulous Princess on Portland hotel. Gorgeous rooms, lovely staff and right in the centre of the village! You just can't fault it!

loved it!

Everyone looked like they were having a fab time on the floats. The crowd were loving all the costumes and the music was ace.
